LAURIEANN GIBSON (Creative Director/Choreographer) is a force to be reckoned with, working most recently with top names including Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Diddy, K-pop’s Big Bang, and Nicki Minaj. Gibson’s unique brand of blending traditional artist development with movement and dance training and a unique creative eye has made her one of the most sought-after creative directors and choreographers working in the music industry today.
Gibson was choreographer and creative director in the Haus of Gaga until 2011; responsible for Gaga’s artist development, as well as music videos, television appearances, touring experiences and more. She was the creative visionary, director and choreographer behind Lady Gaga’s “The Fame Monster World Tour 2010” and received a 2011 Creative Emmy nomination for directing the HBO special taped at Madison Square Garden in New York City. After Laurieann and Gaga’s working relationship ended in 2011, Laurieann picked up right where she left off with Nicki Minaj, creative directing and choreographing all her performances. Four years later, Nicki Minaj is the number one female rapper artist in the entertainment industry and one of the top females in the music industry worldwide.
A classically trained dancer, Gibson studied at the prestigious Alvin Ailey Dance Company. She then segued from traditional theater dance to hip-hop as a working dancer with breakout artist Mary J. Blige. From her success there, Gibson made the leap from dancer to director of choreography for Motown and Bad Boy Records where she worked with such celebrated names as the Notorious B.I.G., Puffy, Faith Evans and Missy Elliot. She has also worked with musical greats Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, Dixie Chicks, Brandy and Beyoncé. For film, she choreographed for Alfie, starring Sienna Miller and Jude Law and Honey, starring Jessica Alba and Lil’ Romeo and creatively directed Beyond the Lights. Over the years, Gibson’s experience and expertise in developing artists’ performance skills along with her choreography and creative insight has seen her work from inception to star status with clients like Lady Gaga and Nicki Minaj. Gibson also directed and choreographed world tours for some of today’s biggest global pop acts.
Gibson’s entry into reality TV began in 2005 as the on-air choreographer for MTV’s hit television show Making The Band, where her signature moves were viewed by millions of fans for three seasons. Since then she has appeared as a judge on the MTV series Starmaker, ABC’s Skating with the Stars, as choreographer on So You Think You Can Dance and, as judge on Global TV’s “Canada Sings 2.” Gibson has also starred in two of her own shows, E! Network’s Dance Scene and BET’s Born To Dance, for which she also served as Executive Producer. Most recently, Laurieann was a celebrity judge on Tru TV’s break out show Fake OFF.
Gibson continues to work with today’s rising and established musical stars as artist developer, video director, creative director and choreographer. She most recently creatively directed Nicki Minaj’s Pink Print Tour (2015), as well as creatively directing P. Diddy’s new album and Bad Boy 20th Anniversary Tour (2015/ 2016).
